Finding Yourself During Quarantine

Self-discovery: the act or process of gaining knowledge or understanding of your abilities, character, and feelings

As we all know, we are living through the tough times of the unknown. Majority of you all have been spending most of your time indoors and taking all the precautions to keep safe.

While there's not a say on how much longer we will be quarantined, this is the perfect time to sit and take the time to reflect and find yourself.  We often get so caught up in the chaos of our lives that we never get the chance to work on our inner selves.

Here are a few questions to get you started on how to find yourself during quarantine:

Who Am I?

This question is extremely important to ask yourself. When asked to describe ourselves, our minds tend to go blank and we end up being stuck on the question for several minutes, if not hours.

What is my purpose in life?

Many of us struggle with knowing our purpose. Knowing your purpose helps you find clarity in life and gives you the strength to keep going through adversity. Remember that your purpose in life does not have to be just one thing.

What brings me happiness?

Figure out what brings you joy. It could be reading, painting, exercising, cooking, etc. Figuring out what brings you happiness in your day to day life is a huge step on finding yourself.

What do you consider to be your most challenging flaw?

This is a challenging, yet important question to ask yourself. Get to know your flaws. Why is it challenging to you? Is it something you can overcome?

What are my most important needs and desires? Does my present life fulfill them?

Understanding your needs in life is important. How can you expect someone to fulfill your needs if you don’t know yourself what your needs and desires are?

This is just a jump start of questions that can lead the way to finding yourself while living in the uncertainty of times right now.  Journal your answers. Write them down somewhere. Reflect on them. For some this may take only a couple of days, however, for some it may take years and that is okay.

But why not start now?
