3 Things That Life Will Teach You

Life is filled with many lessons and hardships. There will be times when you want to give up. There is a cycle of lessons that we continue to learn as we grow older. Here are a few lessons that life will teach you over and over:
Forgiveness is for you, not them.
When someone wrongs you or does something that alters the dynamics of your relationships, it can be difficult to forgive them and move on. Unfortunately, there are cases in which people will never apologize for their actions. How do you move on when they won’t apologize? It is important to realize that forgiveness is more about you than them. Forgiving someone helps you to let go of the offense so that you do not build up anger and resentment against others. Forgiveness is about the relationship that you have with yourself. Forgive those that wrong you. This does not mean that you have to continue a relationship with this person. Love them from a distance.
Mistakes will happen.
At least once a day, we make a mistake. Some mistakes are bigger than others, but at the core of our mistakes is humanity. We would not be human if we did not mess up at least once or twice. However, some individuals equate mistakes with failure. This is far from the truth. Mistakes are indications that we are trying to better ourselves. We can never reach perfection, but we can continue to grow.
Being you is better than trying to be someone else.
Social media encourages a lifestyle that makes many young women believe that they have to be someone else in order to be accepted or fit society’s standard of beauty. Your identity should not be determined by others. Don’t let anyone tell you that you should be anything different than who you were destined to be. Someone needs your light and inspiration in their life. Be you.
Most importantly, be patient with yourself. Sometimes you won’t get it right the first time. Keep trying, keep moving, and keep learning.
